From The L Tracks To Soundtrack

From the beginning it was clear that music would provide the momentum that drives ON THE LINE. Obviously, the filmmakers had the talents of N'Sync members Lance Bass and Joey Fatone at their disposal, but they wanted to go beyond their usual and expected repetoire of hits.

Once the Reverend Al Green came aboard, the tone was set for a juicy mix of modern and classic soul, R&B and rock.

"The soundtrack really takes advantage of Al Green because I don't think anyone has ever really tapped into what a fantastic artist he is on film. It's a great combination of Al Green's legend and N'Sync's superstar status," says Randy Spendlove, the film's music supervisor and President of Music at Miramax. "But the soundtrack is also about a lot of young hot bands that add a real sense of energy."

Summarizes Peter Abrams: "We wanted to weave music through the story without it being all about N'Sync. The idea was to touch on the themes of putting yourself on the line for love."

Jive Records will release the soundtrack to the Miramax motion picture On The Line on October 16. On The Line opens nationwide on October 26 and stars Lance bass, Joey Fatone, Richie Sambora, as well as newcomer Emmanuelle Chriqui.

This impressive soundtrack kicks off with the title track and first single performed by the On The Line Allstars, which include Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Mandy Moore, Christian Burns from BBMak, and True Vibe. "On The Line" will ship to CHR radio on September 24, with an impact date of October 4. A video for "On The Line" was directed by Marc Webb (Green Day, Three Doors Down, Good Charlotte) and will premiere on MTV's Making the Video on October 1st.

*NSYNC add the unique blend of harmonies on 2 tracks, "That Girl (Will Never Be Mine)" and "Falling" which were previously unreleased in the US. "Falling was co-written by Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC. One of the most prominent songs on the soundtrack comes from Al Green re-recording an up-tempo dance version of his classic hit "Let's Stay Together." Green also has a cameo in the movie.
